About the Founder
Hi, I’m Shirley, the founder of Girl Rise Global. I’m currently a sophomore at Wycombe Abbey School in the UK, and I’ve been fortunate to experience life and education across China, Hong Kong, and the United Kingdom. Growing up in different cultures has taught me the importance of diversity, empathy, and global understanding. While I love singing and creative expression, my greatest passion is using modern technology to make education accessible to every girl—no matter where she lives. Through Girl Rise Global, I hope to empower girls around the world to pursue their dreams, build confidence through learning, and rise together toward a brighter, more equal future.
My Story
Growing up and traveling across South Asia and China, I’ve seen firsthand how many bright, curious girls are denied the same educational opportunities as boys. In every village and classroom I visited, I met girls with incredible potential—creative thinkers, problem solvers, and dreamers—whose journeys were limited not by ability, but by circumstance. Witnessing this inequity deeply moved me and strengthened my belief that education is the most powerful tool to transform a girl’s life. It can open doors to confidence, independence, and leadership. Through Girl Rise Global, I want to help bridge this gap by bringing modern technology and resources to communities where girls deserve the chance to learn, grow, and rise.
